Bringing Spring Around

imageIt was a lazy winter around here and reading, knitting, swimming and child care filled up my days. Opening up the windows and doors, finally, in May, when the days warmed up a bit, and the cold, cloudy, windy days had mostly passed, was a welcome lift  as one thing leads to another. It was a slow start and for a while very low on inspiration. But with plenty of warm layers and a hat and fingerless gloves, I sifted loamy soil through my fingers and removed the winter cover, little by little,  coaxing this year’s new shoots, and inhaling the wondrous and deep well of loamy scent into my system, feeling winter giving over to the encroaching drafts of warmth. Then, and only then, do I become a part of the early process, bringing spring round to me.
