Trumpeting in July

So fleeting  but vivid,  steeped in a summer’s day,  these  beauties glisten and stretch, pulling, pulling, pulling  for their long awaited burst into July, spreading their petals into the shimmering light.

But  fade in a heartbeat  they  will, and  disappear……almost overnight…..or bend and break under the weight of themselves,   in a sudden downpour, so common these days, or  a morning dew,  leaving only their perennial shadows  behind.
