Walking the streets after dark

Finding the prettiest church on a long walk back to the hotel one evening after a late dinner was one of the most inspiring moments of this year’s holiday trip. G Street is narrow and quainter than most and draws much less traffic, so is easy to wander.  How a thing looks after dark is always quite different than in the daylight, but the photos reflect the cosy location and fine attention to structure and decoration. An alcove between buildings is an inviting winter landscape of pretty gardens and graceful flowering trees and a safe haven for quiet meandering and meditation.  The building is undergoing renovation but still retains its magnetic charm.  Walking the streets, especially  after dark, opens a still wider world, where you have to look even harder to see.
