My patio project

A summer project that felt impossible early in June now comes to life  in mid-July.  Only one more shrub that will be added later in August to complete the arrangement.  It looks like a Japanese Maple but is a Purple Elder.  A large shrub, it flowers every spring and  has berries in the fall.  It will add a dark feathery backdrop to all of the brighter and deeper greens and the few striking variegated  shrubs that are interspersed among them.  An evergreen would add to the mix as well when winter comes and all but a few lose their leaves. The winter garden can be as eye-catching as the summer one, but more graceful and abstract.
